Welcome to the website of Bakewell Choral Society
We are a long-established local choir with a growing membership, sharing a passion for music from a variety of eras, performing four concerts every year and holding weekly rehearsals, from the beginning of September to after our Summer Concert in June. We rehearse on Mondays at 7.15 p.m. in Bakewell Methodist Church.
FORTHCOMING CONCERTS
See the What’s On section for forthcoming concerts, which start at 7.30pm unless otherwise stated or you can visit our Facebook page by clicking here.
Our performances cover a range of musical genres from Renaissance to contemporary works, often involving orchestral accompaniment. We employ professional soloists and support from other singers across the county, including local school children.
Most important to us is our enjoyment of singing and sharing that combined love of music with our warm and appreciative audiences across the county and the Peaks.
We would love to welcome you to one of our concerts; please take a moment to view our calendar of performances and we look forward to seeing you there.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals are at Bakewell Methodist Church, 1 Granby Croft, Bakewell, Derbyshire DE45 1EZ, on Mondays from 7.15 p.m. to 9.30 p.m.
Whilst we always welcome new members, we would like to know in advance if anyone new would like to join us. Please e-mail our Membership Secretary, Julie Moss at bcsmembersec@gmail.com if you want further details.
In recent years our main concerts have taken place in and close to Bakewell, but we have also performed at St Mary’s Church, Wirksworth, Thornbridge Hall for and our 2024 Summer Concert, John Rutter’s The Sprig of Thyme and other music and readings, took place at St Mary’s Church in Cromford - a first visit for us to this lovely church.
If you would like to listen in on a rehearsal, are thinking of joining us or want to learn more about our choir, please feel free to come along and try us out.
